There are a lot of moments in Final Fantasy VIII that could be categorized as “raw,” which is part of what makes the game so cool. However, there is one that stands above the rest, and it doesn’t even involve our main characters at all. It happens during one of the most visually stunning sections of the game where Squall and Rinoa are running across the screen during the Battle of the Gardens after Squall saves Rinoa at the end of Disc 2. The characters run across a CG background of the battle, and there is one SeeD cadet (I’m guessing based on the uniform) who stands above the rest.
That’s right, it’s the guy who straight up clotheslines a Galbadian officer who is riding a motorcycle toward him with a sword.

Look at that dude. There is no hesitation, no fear, just an absolute wrecking of that guy. This dude should just be able to skip all the tests and go straight to being a SeeD if he survived this battle because he obviously has what it takes.
