Carbuncle is a recurring summon in the Final Fantasy series, but as always, Final Fantasy VIII does it best. Carbuncle is at its peak cuteness in VIII. Look at it! It’s just a lil guy. It is nothing like the later monstrosity versions we get (looking at you FF7R). Carbuncle isn’t the best summon in the game, especially since its special ability is only recovery medicine refine or a party reflect on summon. It’s also a missable summon since it comes from drawing…but it is by far the cutest GF in the game, and that’s worth everything.
Side note: It has highest natural compatibility with Selphie. Make of that what you will, but my interpretation is that it is just a slightly chaotic lil guy.
